Celebrating Excellence: A Recap of the 2024–2025 Athletic Awards Beefsteak
On Wednesday, May 28, Eastern Christian School and the EC Athletic Booster Club (ABC) hosted the 2024–2025 Athletic Awards Beefsteak, an evening dedicated to honoring our high school student-athletes and coaches and celebrating a year of remarkable athletic achievements.
Jeremy Mulder, President of the Board of Directors and boys’ varsity basketball coach, welcomed our 370 student-athletes, coaches, parents, and guests. ABC President Bill Van Hoff followed with a recap of the Booster Club’s accomplishments over the past year and announced that funds raised will be used to transform the current high school fitness center into a state-of-the-art Fitness and Wellness Center.
We were proud to recognize Seth Stadtlander, our esteemed Athletic Director, as the NJIC Colonial Division Coach of the Year for girls soccer. Barry Veenstra was honored for an incredible 44 years of coaching. In addition, first-time varsity letter recipients were celebrated, and all-county and all-league award winners were announced.
Special recognition went to:
- Caleb Chae for reaching 100 career points in lacrosse
- Alina Ellis for becoming the Eagles’ all-time hits leader with 132 career hits in softball
Additional notable awards included:
- NJSIAA Scholar-Athlete – Caleb Kuperus
- National Girls & Women in Sports Award – Kirsten Braunius
- NJIC Sportsmanship Award – Kirsten Braunius & Alex Culp
The Golden Eagle Award was presented to senior athletes who participated in sports for all 12 seasons of their high school careers:
- Kirsten Braunius
- Alex Culp
- Kayleigh Marshall
- Ethan Nashold
Finally, the recognition for earning the most Varsity letters during high school was awarded to Kirsten Braunius, Alex Culp, and Kayleigh Marshall, each with an impressive 12 Varsity letters.
It was a blessing to honor our student-athletes and coaches, and to celebrate the ways they use their God-given gifts in athletics to glorify Him.
